We offer full open-source website and app development to the highest standard, across multiple sectors; portfolio to e-commerce and everything in-between. We work with award-winning design agencies to exacting specifications and strict timelines and can offer a range of design solutions as well. Every site is optimised for mobile use.
Beyond the core build, we also offer robust hosting and SEO/SEM and analytics services via our trusted partners to ensure your site is battle-ready from launch and continues to maintain its presence.
Whether it’s a permanent exhibition installation or a temporary event, we combine our skillset to offer bespoke solutions, scoping and advising the correct technologies for the environment, bringing a concept into a useable final product with minimal ongoing maintenance and risk management factored in, often working in tandem with 3rd party stakeholders, again to strict deadlines.

Defining persona, for brand or business. Hunting down the ‘big idea’. Selecting the right platforms for the right message. Setting key objectives, and meeting them. All methods to determine how well a brand’s message is received in the marketplace.
Brand communications and strategy is offered via our sister company Nine Yards and headed by one of our own, Vanessa. Combining her experience with your brand’s point of difference enables us to offer clear strategic direction, and ideas that work.
Using a combination of practical experience and classical theory, we apply a comprehensive user-focused design framework to all of our projects. The depth of our UX-specific work spans user-testing or contextual enquiries, right through to solving specific problems with existing processes, running research, information architecture, testing and collaborative workshops for a fully evaluated recommendation.
Your online presence doesn’t start and end with a website. We can assist in all things social to maintain consistency of brand messaging.

We completely redesigned Victor Chang’s website from front to back, using a modular design and Craft CMS and its fantastic visual page builder, allowing real time changes with fully responsive views. A perfect solution for a site with deep content layers.
One of the nicest front-end designs we’ve had in recent times. Plugged into a WP/WooCommerce system with complex shipping setup.
A pleasure to work on.

Macadamia were honoured to be engaged by the current affairs department of ABC to prepare and facilitate a one day workshop on The Future Of Long-form Journalism.
We researched and devised a programme for 30 senior production team members to consider a user/audience centric approach to reimagine and extend their established broadcast programming. This was complimented by presentations from key team members.
Hosted at the Police and Justice Museum at Circular Quay, the day was full of lively debate and ideas, aided by some carefully crafted collaborative exercises. A fascinating day and richly rewarding for all concerned…including us.

Magnolia Lane (financial services) partnered with Grays Online to digital Point of Sale (POS) financing and pre-approvals to users. We were required to make the process happen.
After mapping the Grays Online site I did a stocktake of features wanted from Magnolia Lane’s perspective (i.e. live ABN/CN validation) which we vetted several technical options for, and then established the user journey’s to obtain finance through the online portal.
The user/data flow model, you can see this to the right. The user start points in grey, which included 2 start points (product ad & finance tab in the menu) and then subsequent decisions/options to then get the Magnolia Lane iFrame (light blue). The model includes several API integrations and associated data feeds with a Government ABN/CN checker, Credit History checker, Salesforce and Magnolia Lane’s database.
Once tested with stakeholders, we were able to build the application based on a simplified, yet on brand UI (which you can see to the right).
The UI aimed at simplifying the process by coordinating the API points and minifying user-friction.
Since this application is B2C, the interface required more ‘general’ language, easily recognisable visual constructs (i.e. red for ‘NO’) and a smooth yet transparent process. Pagination helps greatly with this since it can put users at ease by not only where they’re up to but how much more they have to do when in a process.
A complex, international website we designed and built. Our design process included extensive research and testing for a quality UX, specifically focussed on the extensive and complex product list.

After a long career in broadcast audio post-production, Joel started Macadamia back in 2007 as an IT support sideline, transitioning into digital development in 2011 and never looking back. Starting as a runner making tea and sandwiches in a London recording studio, Joel’s focus has always been on the customer and as Macadamia pushes past the 10 year mark, their increasingly diverse portfolio proves that that is still the case.
As a Director of Macadamia and founder of Nine Yards, Vanessa completes our offering. Her combined advertising/consultancy experience spans a diverse range of sectors – from cosmetics to cars – across digital, TV, radio, cinema, press, magazines, outdoor, animation, brochures, signage and collateral, social, point of sale, events/conferences and more recently, podcasting. She makes brands, and their messages, sing.
Louis joined Macadamia back in 2008 and brought Macadamia into web and software development in 2011. His skillset is rare. A problem-solving approach to interpreting and converting design to code, coupled with adaptive backend understanding and also server/IT troubleshooting chops sets him apart. That’s without bringing his saxophone playing into the equation.
A UX Designer that’s different to most. A business background, Jerome started an eCommerce business at 23 before launching a completely new online shopping concept to Australia a few years after that. Using technology to come up with creative solutions to problems is his passion and somewhat of a daily undertaking for Macadamia’s varied client-base.
